Sharpei beagle mix

by Suzanne
(Macungie, PA USA)

Our Sharpei Beagle mix is 1 1/2 year old girl dog and weighs about 35 pounds. Her mother is a pure bred beagle and her father is a pure bred Sharpei. She has a great temperament especially with children. Everywhere we take her, she attracts lots of attention and everyone wants to know what breed she is.

People are surprised when they find out she is a Sharpei-Beagle mix. Sharp Eagles, as they are commonly known, are a fairly new breed of designer dog. Sharpei Beagle dogs are great around kids and are very loyal to their family. She has very soft fur with minimal shedding. She loves to be outside and anywhere you are.

This is a great mix because the Sharpei and Beagle Mix balance each other out. You do not have the skin problems of the pure bred Sharpei or the temperament problems of the Beagle dogs, such as the howling. We walk her at least 1 mile a day and she must be on a leash or the first squirrel or chipmunk that happens by will send her chasing after it.

She does walk with her nose to the ground like a Beagle does. She seems to only bark when someone comes to the door and stops once she knows everything is o.k. or when she sees a squirrel or chipmunk running past her while outside.

We would highly recommend this breed of dog for anyone with or without a family that is looking for a loyal medium sized dog with a good temperament.
