A Helpful Guide To Pet Stain Removal
From Carpeting And Hardwood Floors!

pet-stain-removal When you have a dog or cat as a family member, pet stain removal is a given at some point. Yet, most pet owners agree that owning a dog or cat is a wonderful experience.

Taking the good with the bad, at some point we all encounter a few pet stains and pet odors along the way. They get sick or have an accident on the carpet, hardwood floors or maybe just track grass stains across the nice white carpet.

Check out the following home remedy and other tips for pet stain removal and removing pet odors. Keep in mind that the quicker you get to any spill, accident or other problem, the less chance you have of it becoming a permanent stain.

Pet Odors & Pet Stain Removal

A favorite home remedy for common pet stains and pet odors is "club soda". Many swear by this inexpensive liquid for removing dog urine, vomit and other pet accidents and pet odors if caught immediately. First, disgard any solid waste and follow these instructions.

  •  Use enough "club soda" to thoroughly wet the area avoiding soaking the carpet too much (the less liquid on any carpet the better)

  •  Let it sit for five minutes.

  •  A shop vac works best on pet stains and pet odors and is the best tool on the market for removing liquid of any kind from your carpet. So, if you own one, use it. If you do not have a shop vac, you can use paper towels by placing two at a time on the area and using your feet to step on the towels and remove the excess liquid.

Blood & Protein Stains

  •  For blood and other protein pet stains you should first blot the area with "cold" water. Then mix a little dishwashing soap with warm water and spray or pour onto the pet stain. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes. Using a shop vac or paper towels, remove the excess water. Rinse again with "cold" water and thoroughly remove the excess water once again.

  •  For grass stains we recommend using a dry carpet cleaning solution and following the manufacturers instructions.

Home Remedies For Removing Pet Stains & Odors From Hardwood Floors

  •  The only home remedy that we are aware of for removing urine or other pet stains from hardwood floors is by using hydrogen peroxide full strength and then removing the varnish. Since we have never tested this method, we strongly recommend talking to someone at a flooring store for further advice. There's a good possibility that there are products on the market for this particular problem
