Our Murphy died at 5 from liver cancer. Could rawhide somehow be involved?
by Ginny K.
Our Best Furry Friend, Murphy Our most beloved Golden Retriever, Murphy, died at just 5 1/2 years old due to massive numbers of liver tumors. Right now the media spotlight is on children's toys gone bad from China. My husband and I were wondering if somehow the mass quantities cigarette shaped rawhide bones Murphy used to consume was somehow responsible for his developing cancer. Or perhaps his dog toys that came from China. There are no regulations that we know about concerning dog toys and rawhide. Are certain chemicals used in the processing that will, over time, cause terrible health problems? Certainly we will scrutinize any toys and rawhide for future pets and probably not give our animal friends any. That saddens up because toys and bones provide hours of chewing pleasure.
