My 9 yr old toy poodle has been diagnosed with a large primary hepatocellular carcinoma. She has been fed very high quality food all her life, but I have given her rawhide chews, and Dingo rawhide chews with "meat" inside. Coincidence?

To Ginny, I was saddened by your story. It seems that these days dog owners have to be much more cognizant of the pet food and toy products on the market--and I think that is a good thing for even for ourselves, we need to be aware of what we are eating. For too long we have trusted pet food manufacturers, not realizing the toxic contents of ingredients in dog food. I am researching the raw hide bones--and would like to keep in touch with you regarding my findings. If you would provide your e-mail address so we can keep posted, I would appreciate it. I live in Wilmington, NC and have had four Standard poodles over the years. I had to euthanize my dear girl, Anni, last year. She was fifteen, nearly blind, deaf and had a large tumor on her nose.. I was fortunate to have her as long as I did, but I also question the vet's treatment of mega doses of heartworm medicine to kill the mange that she contracted from neighboring foxes.
