I've been giving my two Boxers rawhide bones for years with no adverse reactions.

Sometimes they get a little bit too big of a chunk and try to swallow it, making them gag to get it back up. Other than that, no problems. The last ones I bought were "American Kennel Club" retriever bones.

The only ingredient listed was beef hide.
