My Golden had a seizure the day after consuming a Wal Mart Exer Hide Rawhide

by Rae
(Missouri)

We have a 4 1/2 year old happy and healthy golden retriever. She suffered a cluster of seizures and was rushed to the emergency vet. All tests came back normal. The ONLY thing that changed in her routine was the night before the seizure she consumed a rawhide bone. She got ahold of our other golden's rawhide that morning but didn't chew much of it. We are praying there won't be another occurance. It's 36 hours out and so far so good.

I cannot prove the rawhide was the contributing factor but after scanning the internet I have to wonder. Just wanted others to know. The rawhides were Exer Hide retriever rolls and were made in Mexico.

Just got email today about Rawhide - Walmart Exer-Hide
by: Jennifer

I'm so sorry to hear about what you all had to go through! I've heard so many stories about rawhide dog chews in general that I stopped buying them years ago.

I don't even want them to chew on them with my supervision because I'm too scared one of my dogs will choke on it and I won't know what to do! I got an email about the the Exer-Hide rawhide and did a search and that's when I came across your website. Thought I'd share.

This is what the email said "WARNING!!!!! Walmart sells a rawhide like chew called Exer-Hide - this has been causing MAJOR seizures and death. This product is manufactured in Brazil. This has been happening since December and yet the crap is still being sold.

Please pass this information on!
