My Dog Had 5 Seizures Just Hours After Eating A Rawhide Treat Made in USA

by Lis
(Atlanta, GA)

I rarely buy rawhide treats for my dog, but when I do, I look to see where it comes from. I don’t buy any treats made in China.

Last week, I bought a bag of treats made in Detroit, MI. I thought it was safe, since it was made in the United States. I gave one to my dog and hours later he started having seizures. He had five seizures in 24 hours. My dog was diagnosed with epilepsy three years ago when I adopted him, but with the medication, he only has seizures about every two or three months and only one episode.

My dog injured himself during those seizures and has been having trouble walking. He’s been medicated, but still not as active as he used to be. The vet believes the treat caused the multiple seizures in my dog.

I bought rawhide bones made in Brazil (the light color bones) and my dog never had any problem with them. It doesn’t matter if a treat is made here or any place else, we should not give our dogs any rawhide dog chews, period. They’re just are not safe.

I would never , ever , buy any type of rawhide dog chews for my 5 dogs , they get only good food with no by products , or any of the other awful ingredients , and only milk bones as a treat , and only once a day for the treat !! i want my furkids with me as long as possible : )
