My Dog Choked on Rawhide

Today my dog choked on a small piece of a rawhide dog chew. I had to pull it out of her throat and when I did, some blood came with it. I believe I cut her throat when I pulled it out. Rawhide is not bad but when the piece gets too small throw it out before the dog chokes.

It is good you monitored your dog chewing on and eating rawhide. I do give my dog the rawhide rolls, they come two in a package at Food Lion here in NC.

When they get little, however, I watch carefully or take them away, because he will tend to gobble them, especially as the little raw hide pieces become soft.

I avoid all the little flips, ears, snouts and twists for that reason.
