My Adorable Dog’s touching story

My pet dog

I had a lovely Pomeranian whom we fondly called Chiku. He was very adorable and always alert. As soon as he would hear the gate open, he would start barking.

He loved playing with his ball and we had trained him some ball tricks. When we would throw the ball, he would rush to bring it back.

He was always very playful, but suddenly one day he did not react to our call and seemed very lethargic when we tried to play with him.

His appetite was very small and he seemed sleepy and tired most of the time. Seeing his condition, my mom suggested taking him to a Veterinary doctor. We did and the Vet indicated that he had a fever and advised us to do blood tests.

Everything came back normal, but he was not himself. On our second visit, the doctor could feel a lump underneath the stomach and suggested a biopsy. The reports turned out positive and it was diagnosed as cancer of the stomach. The doctor said that Dog cancer is similar to human cancer and the animal also suffers a lot.

The area from where the biopsy was done did not show any signs of healing. The doctor suggested chemotherapy as the cancer had started spreading. It was very painful for us to take our cheerful dog for the daily dose of injections. He was so obedient that he would run out for toilet when he was well. Unfortunately, a stage had come when it was very difficult for him to move. One fine morning when we went to his room, he was lying there motionless.

We thanked God that he passed away peacefully without much suffering. We had tried to give him the best comfort and affection during his last days.
