My 1 yr oOld Chihuahua Sick After Ingesting Rawhide Chews And Other Treats

by Janet
(Orlando, FL)

Unknowingly, I recently was giving my chihuahua rawhide dog chews on a regular basis. She is a vigorous chewer so usually ate most of them very quickly. Last week she was sick all week which started with diarrhea and a few bouts of throwing up.

We made a trip to the vet and she DISCOURAGES anyone from giving these to dogs for many reasons, choking and the possible problem that most of them are sprayed with chemicals.

She only recommends the Kong type or a nylon bone, but I don't think my dog would like either of these so she'll only get my home baked biscuits from now on....she's still recovering and it's been a week, but thank God she is getting better.

Rawhide NEW
by: AnonymoGraceus

I rescued a four year old chihuahua 2 weeks ago. Isherwood ate a lot of a small rawhide bone yesterday. Today he won't eat or drink and has been sleeping all day. I think it's a reaction to the bone.

I can hear his stomach growling across the room.

DON'T give ANY rawhide dog chews
by: Anonymous

They can get stuck in their intestines and kill them. Also, they can choke. They should never be given to a dog. I just spent an enormous amount of money dealing with this.

They should be taken off the shelves as they are very dangerous.
