My family adopted a dog from a website called adoptapet.com after our Golden Retriever, Pete, passed away from dog cancer.

He was around 7 years old when he passed. His cancer came on very suddenly, and since he was an important member of our family, we had a tough time with his passing.

About a year later, however, we decided to adopt Miles. Miles was a Weimeraner, and he was very skiddish when he first came home. He took a bit to settle in, but soon he was an important member of the family. About a year and a half later, after two kids had moved out, our family decided that it wasn't fair to Miles to be home alone so often, as the only people still living at home were very busy, and unable to give Miles the attention he needed.

We decided to give him to a family friend, who allowed us to visit Miles whenever we wanted. We stayed close with him, and he kept us upated on how Miles was doing. Very recently, however, we were informed that Miles had also passed away after being diagnosed with canine cancer.

Both of our dogs were diagnosed with cancer and put to sleep within a very short time period due to the severity of the disease and suffering that was expected.

Our family has been saddened by the death of two of our dogs, but we have wonderful memories of both of them, and are happy that we were able to have them in our lives.
