Natural Grooming Products Are
A Must For Sensitive Dogs
Use Only All Natural Grooming Products
On Dogs With Allergies
Make it a point to use all natural grooming products on your dog for regular bathing and hygiene. This is especially important for dogs with sensitive skin and allergies.
We recommend a gentle grooming shampoo followed by a soothing oatmeal bath rinse for dogs with or without skin conditions. An oatmeal bath for dogs provides tremendous benefits to their skin and coat including moisturizing the skin and softening the fur.
Use the following grooming tips for making your own dog shampoo and finishing rinse.
Make Your Own All Natural Grooming Shampoo
Mix the following ingredients together:
16oz. Dove or Ivory Dishwashing Liquid
16oz. Water
16oz. Apple Cider Vinegar
4oz. Glycerine (Pharmacies carry Glycerine)
Thoroughly wet the dog with warm water and completely shampoo the skin and fur starting at the tail. Avoid shampooing the face and eyes and use a damp cloth to wipe this area. Rinse the dog completely leaving no shampoo behind.
Recipe For An Oatmeal Bath Finishing Rinse
Thoroughly mix together:
2 Tablespoons Aveeno Colloidal Oatmeal
1 Gallon Warm Water
Once the dog has been completely rinsed, apply the oatmeal rinse evenly massaging into the skin and fur. Do not rinse. Allow your dog to shake off any excess water and thoroughly towel dry.
ONLY USE A GROOMING SHAMPOO MADE FOR DOGS
Your dog's pH balance vs your own pH balance is quite different. Shampoo's made for humans contain more acid and are more drying to the skin. A dog's natural pH level is between 6.2 and 7.2. The natural pH level for humans is between 5.2 and 6.2.
When you use a human shampoo on your dog, the acid alone upsets the delicate pH balance of your dog's skin. Avoid using human shampoo on any dog, but for a dog that is already sensitive, it's definitely not a good idea.
AVOID HUMAN BABY SHAMPOOS
AND MEDICATED SHAMPOOS AS WELL!
