rawhide toxins!!!
by: Anonymous

What happened to your dog is so sad and also very scary. We started giving him a few bones again and he's doing fine. We don't give them to him too often and we also don't let him finish it the first time.

We will definitely keep this terrible story in mind and we are so sorry for your loss Karine.

My 5 year old dog died from rawhide
by: Anonymous

He was given a Milk Bone Rawhide and the following day he started to vomit and also had diarrhea. We called the vet and were advised to give him Pepto Bismol, Pedialyte and provide no food.

He progressively got worse on the 3rd day. He was taken to the vet and died of kidney failure due to the toxins on the rawhide.

We were in total shock since we had the healthiest dog ever that passed over due to a piece of rawhide.

We are deeply sadden by the tests. We had hoped it was only an intestinal infection.

As far as keeping him busy goes you can try treat balls. You can put treats or even just his dog food into them and the dog has to roll them around to get the food to come out. There are also ones that are more difficult like the tug-a-jug. They have to pull the rope to get the lid off. There are tons of these to keep your dog busy or active. I use them with my dogs regular dog food since he has a sensitive stomach. So instead of feeding him all his food in his bowl I fill a few toys when I leave for work to entertain him.
