Use A Dog Seat Belt When Riding In The Car With Your Dog

A Dog Seat Belt Allows The Driver To Relax!

If your dog loves to go for rides, play it safe and purchase a dog seat belt. Even the biggest dog lovers can get stressed trying to hold their dog in place while watching the road at the same time.

Dog Seat Belts
These are a great investment if your best friend travels with you even for small trips to the grocery store. Most can be used as a regular harness for walking your dog. Also, make sure that you choose a seatbelt that provides comfort while keeping your dog secure at the same time.

Dog Auto Barriers
For Van's and SUV's, these are great for keeping your dog safely in the back of the vehicle. As a matter of fact, in many states if your dog is traveling with you, it's the law to have one properly installed in the vehicle for his safety and yours. You generally have a choice of tubular bars, mesh or nylon.

Never Place A Loose Dog In The Back Of A Pick-up
Unfortunately it's not uncommon to see dogs pacing back and forth in the back of pick-up trucks while on local roads and highways. This behavior is irresponsible on the part of any dog owner. Dogs and people can get killed because of a dog being thrown or jumping on their own into oncoming traffic.

Regrettably, every year Veterinarians see many dogs that are severely injured because their owner didn't care enough to keep them safely secured in the vehicle. Most dogs do not survive these ordeals.

Although we Do Not Recommend this method of traveling with your dog, there are seat belts for dogs that are specifically made for the back of pick-up trucks and we encourage them to anyone who travels with their dog this way. We strongly recommend placing the dog inside the vehicle with his owner. If the dog must be in the back of an open pick-up truck, we suggest placing him in a crate that has been secured into position and cannot bounce around the vehicle.

*We still highly recommend a dog safety belt even with a barrier.

It is our job and responsibility to keep our pets safe at all times.
