Dog Breath And Helpful Tips For Canine Halitosis

Dog Breath Can Be Easily Treated With A Few Simple Steps!

Veterinarians say that the #1 health problem for dogs is Periodontal Disease. If your dog continuously seems to be plagued by terrible dog breath then chances are that he has some periodontal problems.dog-breath

Many dog owners never brush their dogs teeth or use any type of oral rinse. The bacteria on the teeth is what leads to dog bad breath. The reason that most people shy away from this daunting task is that they can't find the time or just don't believe it is necessary.

In reality, this is one of the best things that you can do for your dog's overall health including his heart. PetzLife Oral CareBacteria on your dogs teeth eventually becomes plaque/tarter and not only cause dog bad breath, but causes tooth decay and possible heart issues as well.

Keep in mind that periodontal disease is also very painful for your dog.

It's important to have a veterinarian check for any underlying health problems that might be causing your dog's unpleasant dog breath. Just feeding breath mints will not solve the problem.

If it's determined that periodontal disease is indeed an issue, here are some things that you can do:

  •  You can have your veterinarian clean your dog's teeth which generally costs between $70-$100

  •  Start brushing or cleaning your dog's teeth on a regular basis. Nothing cleans them better than brushing. There are tooth brushes made specifically for brushing your dog's teeth. They are angled making it a little easier to reach the sides and back teeth. A dog tooth brush that fits over your index finger is also available.

  •  Only use a toothpaste made for dogs. A human toothpaste is not meant to swallow, but a doggie toothpaste is.

There is an excellent product that we use on our dogs that works extremely well on removing plaque, tarter and keeps the breath fresh called PetzLife Oral Care. There are some great oral rinses that can be used regularly to help with Tarter, Plaque and Gingivitus but none are as effective as PetsLife Oral Care. Follow the instructions on the bottle for dosage or check with your own Veterinarian.

You know how painful a toothache can be for yourself, well it's not any less painful for your dog. If brushing combined with an oral rinse is too much, then an oral rinse regularly is better than nothing.
