Our List Of Recommended Dog BooksSince we don't speak the same language as our best friend, it's important to be observant to their needs. Books are an essential tool in providing the ultimate care for the family dog. Here Are Some Of Our Personal Favorite Books About Dogs:
Dr. Pitcairn's Guide To Natural Health For Dogs And Cats by Dr. Richard H. Pitcairn, DVM, PhD. and Susan Hubble Pitcairn extensively covers the importance of quality food and dog health. You will find many special diets for dogs with allergies. Eye, dental and skin diseases are also discussed. This is a book that you will refer to many times over the years.
Of all the dog books, this one is probably our favorite. If you have ever owned an old dog or lost your best friend who was up in years, then this book by Gene Weingarten and Michael Williams (Photographer) will tell your story. This book is a wonderful tribute to older dogs and to those who love them. It also contains alot of wonderful pictures. This is a MUST READ amongst dog books.
A wonderful book that captures dogs during their golden years. Old Friends is a nice read for dog owners and anyone who hopes to grow old gracefully in the canine spirit.

Another of our favorite dog books is by Cesar Millan, aka, "The Dog Whisperer". "Cesar's Way" is an excellent guide for a gentle training approach as well as understanding just how dogs think. We have put many of Cesars practices into place and the results are absolutely incredible.
If you have ever read any of the "Chicken Soup" books, then you'll understand why this is a classic. Chicken Soup For The Dog Lovers Soul by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Marty Becker, DVM, Carol Kline and Amy D. Shojai is a great read for anyone that loves dogs. This is a book that touches home for every dog owner.
A wonderful book by John Grogan of life with a yellow labrador named Marley that touches the heart of every dog lover. John Grogan touches on all the moments of owning a dog, both the happy times and the sad times. As the owner of a yellow labrador ourselves with a severe case of thunder phobia, we could relate to the authors story quite well. Excellent book!
While we try to read all the dog books that we recommend, we haven't had a chance to read this one yet. However, we are adding it because it sounds like a wonderful buy. Published by Readers Digest and written by David Alderton; Young at Heart: 120 Things You Can Do Right Now to Give Your Older Dog a Longer, Healthier Life sounds like a great book. The book includes 120 tips to help pet owners care for their older dog.
