Plan The Perfect Dog Birthday Party Using These Tips

The first thing is to decide who to invite:

  •  Three or more dogs become a pack and dominant dogs that do not know one another can become a problem. The last thing that you want is fighting and since we're dealing with dogs, you "MUST" take extra precautions.

It's best to introduce dogs, especially strange dogs in a neutral territory first allowing them to carefully check each other out. Since dogs are more threatened when on a leash, if you know of a neutral zone where they can all meet off leash, this is even better.

  •  It's critical that you make sure all the dogs are comfortable together. A free for all won't work at a dog birthday party and is definitely not recommended. Each owner should have their own dog in a designated area while eating. This makes it more comfortable for owners and dogs.

Next, An Indoor or Outdoor Celebration?

When having a birthday party for dogs, outside is definitely recommended. Keep in mind that although you want to make this is a fun time for your best friend and his canine pals, you also want your home to remain intact. When dealing with a large number of dogs, we highly recommend outdoor activities.

If you decide that the event is going to be held indoors, you're a little more limited as to what you can do, but there are a few options:

  •  Dogs love to show off, so allow them to do their best tricks.
  •  Providing there are no food aggressive dogs, give each dog an interactive toy with a few treats inside to keep them occupied for awhile
Place a large bed sheet or two underneath the area that the dogs will eat. You can also use old towels to place underneath each individual dog's plate.

If the party is going to be held outdoors, you can definitely provide more activities:

  •  A child's pool will provide lots of fun for those water loving dogs.
  •  Tennis balls are a favorite of most dogs, so have a few of those around. A tennis ball launcher is a great way to throw those tennis balls without causing arm fatigue.
  •  Have a few bubble dispensers so they can chase bubbles.

Again, place a large piece of plastic or a few bedsheets on the ground to serve the cake to make clean-up simple.

Don't Forget Your Human Friends

Although it's a dog birthday party, don't forget their faithful owners. Provide a warm brunch or a sandwich platter with a nice salad.

It's a party, relax and have fun!
