For Treating Cancer

Canine Cancer Hit Home For Us

Canine cancer hit home for us In 2006. Our yellow labrador "Lulu" was diagnosed with cancer of the bowel. We were devestated to say the least.

Her surgeon is a wonderful, caring, excellent doctor and we of course opted to have the cancerous tumor removed. It wasn't easy on our old girl and it was just the beginning of rebuilding her health.

The surgery was a success and the tumor was completely removed. After the surgery however, she developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome and was also at the beginning stages of Liver Disease.

Lulu always struggled with allergies, anal gland problems related to allergies, continuous soft stool, digestive issues, yeast infections, skin problems and I could literally go on.

Although her diet always consisted of all natural high quality foods; after the surgery she required a completely new diet tailored to her many issues.

The Most Important Things We Did For Lulu

We completely understand how devestating it is to find out that your best friend has Cancer. With that in mind, we want to share with you what has worked for us in terms of healing Lulu. Our situation with Lulu was a little different in that we had to develop a diet that would work for her liver disease, but not upset her Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Plus, we also had to provide her with all the necessary nutrients she required as an older dog and recovering cancer patient.
You Can Share Your Dog's Cancer Story With Others

Help other dog owners feel better just by reading your dog's story.

There are TWO THINGS that you MUST DO for treating your Canine Cancer patient:

  1. Since diet is the basis for good health, early nutritional intervention is where we immediately focused our attention and we recommend that you do the same. Feed a healthy home cooked diet. Dogs with cancer and other diseases recover quicker and remain healthier on a home made diet tailored to meet their specific needs.

A cancer diet for dogs is high in GOOD fat, careful levels of superior protein and LOW amounts of carbs.

When it comes to diet, we recommend discussing your options with a holistic veterinarian since they are highly educated in nutrition and their therapy always involves diet. Keep in mind that unfortunately one diet just doesn't work for all dogs and these percentages might not be the case should your dog have any other health concerns besides cancer like our girl Lulu.

The type of fat included in a canine cancer diet such as omega 3 is critical when a dog has cancer. Excellent sources of omega 3 include krill, salmon or flaxseed. If you use flaxseed, it's important that you get cold pressed liquid which can be found in many organic refridgerated sections.

Although we wholeheartedly believe in raw diets for dogs, when it comes to dogs with cancer, it's a different ball game. They have a weakened immune system and their food should be cooked. Meat should be simmered but cooked through (ALWAYS cook on low temperature since cooking at higher temperatures can generate carcinogens).

STAY CLEAR OF CARBOHYDRATES COMPLETELY - THEY TURN INTO SUGAR AND FEED CANCER CELLS. ALSO AVOID VEGETABLES THAT NATURALLY INCLUDE ALOT OF SUGAR such as any squash including pumpkin, carrots, peas and white potatoes to name a few. Leafy greens hold alot of water and this is why they are naturally low in sugar, so greens such as spinach or kale, romaine lettuce and shitake mushrooms are good choices of veggies for a cancer diet. Broccoli is another great anti-cancer veggie, but it can cause alot of gas. Even some of our favorite dog food brands should be avoided due to the high carb content.

  2. Once your pet is diagnosed with cancer, you MUST build your dog's strength and you do this by building and improving his weakened immune system. Dr. Dressler's book will take you through every step of your dog's cancer in simplistic terms.

We actually purchased the book after our girl passed away just to keep on hand and it's a MUST HAVE if your looking for help!

For those intersted, here's the Kindle version of Dr. Dressler's Cancer Book. Both conventional and holistic doctors understand the importance of a healthy immune system for treating and managing cancer in pets and people. When the immune system is compromised, it can no longer do it's job of protecting the body from disease or contamination of any kind.

Besides home cooked meals, include an immune builder to restore your dog's strength. We recommend the regular form of K9 Immunity vs the K9 Immunity PLUS formula. Again, canine cancer and all the treatments that go with it, destroy and weaken your dog's immune system. His immune system is what makes him strong and helps to expedite his recovery. We are completely convinced that Lulu would not have been in the excellent condition she was, had we not placed her on an Immune builder.

The Above Actions Will Be The TWO Best Things That You Do For Your Dog. Don't Proscrastinate, Cancer Is Not Time Friendly......

Finally, we would like you to meet our wonderful Lulu and our very own very own Canine Cancer survivor.

This Video was taken March 2010. Upate: It is with great sadness that we have to tell our visitors that we lost our Lulu on 6-30-10. Lulu remained in remission for close to 4 years.

Understand that you must still seek and consult with your Veterinarian routinely.
